Friends and Family, I understand - Post 39

Friends and Family, I really do understand on how difficult it may be for some of you to understand and support that the person you have known for over 50 years is transgender.  Since telling the world almost 2 years ago, I have often put myself in your shoes.  If someone I knew did the same thing, and because of the limited knowledge I had about transgender at the time, I most likely would have been pretty upset as well.  However, because of the love I would have had for that person, I would have not only tried to support them, I also would have tried to educate myself more on the topic.  By now, most people should have heard me speak about Gender Dysphoria, and that I am transgender because of a life long struggle that I have endured with it, which has caused depression, anxiety, anger, frustration, and even contributed to my seizures. I ask, if you were dealing with a deabiliatating health condition, would you not hope that your friends and family would try to understand?  I personally, have known many friends and family who have suffered with many health conditions, and I could not disown them, but rather I educated myself on their conditions so I could support them.  Many people will never truly understand what and why Transgender exists, but regardless, some will still support me out of basic love.  Even though I have countless supporters in many directions, it does hurt when those I love chose mallace in their hearts over love.  Perhaps, what hurts the most is the few people who challenge my wife and mine marriage to each other.  If I was still in a hospital bed with uncontrolled seizures, I wonder if they would still carry the same critisim. Regardless, I do understand how difficult it is to understand what Transgender is, especially considering all of the religious, political, and social pressures surrounding it.  All I can ask is, before you turn to hate and anger, try to turn to education.  Transgender is not a fetish, it is not anything to do with sexual orientation, not that it should matter; and it does not go against the Bible any more than any other medical condition that has been treated for in many decades.  In otherwords, transgender may be something new to you, but it is not something new to science or the medical field world wide.

With this, I close and ask, if you can see past all the social  pressures and anger in your hearts and have respectful questions, please feel free to reach out to me and ask.  I love you All.

Hugs,

Jade
