Where Did I Find Support? Post #29

 Where Did I Find Support?

When I was diagnosed with Gender Dysphoria by my neuropsychologist, being transgender was confirmed.  Now what do I do?  What is next?  What do I wear?  What do I tell my friends and family?  These were just some of the questions that I had. I was anxious, and I was scared of the unknown in what was next, what to expect.  Maybe if I could find others like me, I could get some advice, some support?  Considering that I never met another transgender person in my life, where could I find others to talk to?  I was relieved that I was finally diagnosed, but I was also lost.  Yes, I had a professional therapist, who I saw every couple weeks for an hour, but she could only do so much.  So, I looked for more support; and considering the transgender community is so small, finding a local support group was very difficult. I googled transgender chat groups, but most were focused on sex chat, which was not what I was looking for.  Fortunately, I found one group, a group created to be a safe peer to peer support group to discuss transgender topics. This is where I started, and have been there ever since.

Since I have been on this online group, I have met many wonderful transgender people from around the world, traveling the same journey as me.  Even though most of the time we make small talk, we do oftentimes chat about many transgender topics.  We talk about HRT, clothing, challenges with friends and family, and much more.  Sometimes we laugh, and sometimes we cry; but most importantly we try to support each other.  One global chat room with multiple cultural diversities working together.  It makes me wonder, if we can support each other, why cannot the whole world do the same?  Regardless, we have a special room, a safe place where we can be our authentic selves.  This is not to say that we do not get some occasional negative people wanting to cause us problems or pervert us, but they are addressed quickly. At least it is online, a place that is safer than in public sometimes.  God willing, maybe even the world will eventually become a safe place for us all to be who we are.

So, where did I find support?  321 Chat is where, a free global English speaking chat platform with multiple chat rooms that covers multiple topics.  For the purpose of this Blog, I am only going to focus on the transgender room.

Where am I now with 321 Chat?  After many months of finding support and giving support to others, I was asked to help keep this room and the site safe as a volunteer Global Moderator.  First, I cannot express how appreciative I am to have 321 chat to turn to, and I know there are hundreds if not thousands of other people around the world who feel the same way.  Then for the site to trust me to be one of their noble moderators, I am honored to be part of their team. Thank you 321 Chat for so much.

The following drawings where gifts to me by one of our chatters from India, now a good friend of mine.

I was totally lost, but now I have friends, a transgender family online, which I am very grateful for.  Thank you All, including all those who support me outside of 321 Chat.

Hugs - Jade
