HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy) Update - Blog #17

HRT, not a topic that I have shared much here, perhaps it has been because I did not know how to.  Before I get into sharing my HRT details, I want to take the time to thank all of you for your interest in my journey.  I never expected so many to be interested, Thank you.

Before I share how HRT is positively effecting me, I believe I am obligated to share what it is, and why transgender persons oftentimes need it.  HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy) is a medical treatment for those who need medical intervention for having a hormonal imbalance, some examples includes male ED (erectile disfunction), menopausal women, and transgender persons.

Why is HRT so important for transgender persons?  For us transgender persons, we realize that each of us our journey and needs are different, and so is our journey in transitioning.  However, for many of us, HRT is necessary to not only assist in our physical appearance and characteristics, but most importantly for our mental health. Yes, HRT will help feminize a person born male, or maculate a person born female. For me, what is most import is to balance our mindset with the gender that we are born mentally, spiritually, and psychologically.  Similar to women in menopause, transgender persons like me needs help in balancing our bodies and mind, which is were HRT comes into place.

So, what has HRT done for me?  Imagine looking in the mirror and not able to smile, but feel depressed.  Imagine feeling ugly as a person for the body and parts you were born with.  Imagine having to block all the feelings in your heart to the point you lose emotions.  Imagine having so much anxiety and depression that it contributes to your anxiety and feeds your seizure disorder.  If only there was an option...  Well, there is.  Men and women have been using HRT to treat their unhappiness and health conditions for years; and now those of us who have developed gender dysphoria because of being transgender can find medical help too.  So, what has HRT done for me?  Now, I am able to feel emotions and cry when something touches my heart... feelings I have had blocked for years.  I started HRT through my doctor this past December with what is referred to as a T-blocker (androgen blocker), and I started estrogen 6 weeks ago.  Prior to Prescription HRT, I took over the counter supplements for over a year.  The supplements helped, but it was not strong enough.  In just 7 months, I have started to discover mental balance and starting to see what I like in the mirror... Now, I smile for who I am.  For those who are interested in the juicy details, the T-blockers totally effects my male libido; and yes, my shirts are getting tighter in the front, lol. Believe it or not, I cannot be happier in my treatment.  Oh, my anxieties are declining and so is my levels of seizures.  How far my transition will take me is still pending, as HRT may be enough.  Only time will tell.  I would also like to add: Gender dysphoria is not my only medical condition, but maybe I will be able to live a happier peaceful life.  I can only hope and pray.

This is my HRT story to date.

Hugs,

Jade
