Why is our Equality Not Equal? - Post #36

Why is our Equality Not Equal?

It has been a little while since my last post.  To say that I have been facing some challenges would be an understatement. Some day I may share them, but for now, I am keeping these particular ones private.

Now, that I have a pretty good understanding on what Transgender is, the concept of not understanding it does not make any sense to me.  Now, that I look at things with a different perspective, I started looking at other situations in our society.  I have always been proud to be an American, a place where people from all around the world come to for a better life. "Life, Liberty, and the Pursue of Happiness" is the American dream.  Unfortunately, for those of us who live here know that things are not always like they are meant to be.  Here are just a few examples of the hypocritical issues that effects our society:

1.  Openly practicing religion is public schools is not acceptable; but if you are in prison, one can be granted parole if they find God.

2.  We claim to be a society of racial equality; but in prison, inmates are segregated by race.

3.  With many different Christian based religions worshipping the same God and Savior within the United States, many of them oppose each other.

4.  We have sexual / gender equal rights in the work force, but not in sports.

If we as a society cannot seem to respect each other in these examples, how can we expect our world to accept the complicated differences of Transgender?  There are so many myths and assumptions about us that it can be overwhelmingly frustrating. I can only hope and pray that people will start to look at others with love instead of hate.  Every person is different in many ways; and it is these differences that makes us all special.  Perhaps there will be day that we as a society will have a common practice of asking questions rather than assuming so much.  Until then, we all can lead by example; and ask yourselves, "What does Equality mean, and who does it apply to?"

Love and Hugs,

Jade
